This project, funded by Zero Waste Scotland, was a collaboration between ourselves, IBioIC and three technology providers (Horizon Proteins, MiAlgae, and BioPower Technologies). The three companies each had different ideas for creating valuable products from the draff and pot ale residues from Scotch Whisky production. We worked together to identify ways in which their technologies could be used together in a mutually beneficial way. This had clear benefits for the companies involved, while having a positive impact on the Scotch Whisky industry as it strives to find the most environmentally sound routes for the disposal and use of these materials.
